Banana and Chocolate Mascarpone Crepes

Chocolate Mascarpone and Banana Crepes

From: EvilShenanigans

Aside from some frozen bananas dipped in chocolate, and chocolate chip banana bread, the combination is largely overlooked.  Well, break out your bananas because we are going to make something that will make chocolate lovers rejoice.
The crepes are chocolate but they do not have any sugar in them.  Before you say I am mad consider that the crepes are going to be filled with bananas which are naturally very sweet.  Along with bananas there is a rich, bitter-sweet, chocolate mascarpone filling, and once plated the crepes are dusted with powdered sugar.  With all that sweetness the crepes themselves needed to be bitter to provide a nice contrast in flavor…more

Whole Wheat Banana Berry Pancakes

From: My kitchen addiction

Every week at the grocery store, I buy a large bunch of bananas. About 4 days later, I always have 2 or 3 bananas sitting on my counter that are too ripe to eat.  You would think that, after countless weeks of having overly ripe bananas left over, I would learn to buy a smaller bunch of bananas each week. If I had learned that lesson, though, you would not be seeing this recipe for banana berry pancakes…more

Greek pancakes (tiganites)

From: Greedy gourmand

Whilst I am of mixed background my father is 100% Pontian Greek, so I am quite familiar with the Greek culture and definitely the food, thanks to the most gorgeous little Greek grandma in the world, my yia yia Sofia. Growing up, my brother and I spent a HUGE amount of time at my yia yia’s simply because she spoiled us rotten. We would literally be eating the entire day in between playing on the makeshift swing of a blanket tied between trees.
For example I shall tell you about breakfast:…more

Pancake Sunday

Potato Pancakes, Mère Blanc Style
From: The daily spud

This, however, is not real life, but bloggerland Wonderland, where these are giants among pancakes. Pancakes that, in true Alice-in-Wonderland style, say eat me. Well, make me first, then eat me. I, for one, am not going to argue with a giant pancake.

The recipe for these big-seeming-but-really-little pancakes was another one that had caught my eye from Lindsey Bareham’s book In Praise Of The Potato. These were pancakes that she first encountered at La Mère Blanc’s restaurant in Bourg-en-Bresse. When somebody describes a meal as one of their “greatest gastronomic experiences” and adds that these particular pancakes stole the show, well, you take note. And given the license to consume and blog about pancakes afforded by Pancake Tuesday this week, the time had come to try them out…more

Potato latkes

From: Feed my world

Sri says: These latkes caused me so much anguish a few days ago.

I had to make 2 dozen latkes for Jules’ Hanukkah class party at her pre-school, last Wednesday. Well,  I didnt want to make it the nite before, because I didnt want it to be soggy on the day of the party. Nor do I want to prep it too early, for the fear that the  potatoes will turned brown. I pooh-poohed at the idea of using frozen latkes.. or using one of those instant mixes. Oh please! Me? Never! So, there I was, rushing… with only 45 minutes to spare to make 2 dozen of these suckers…more

Coffee pancakes with honey-ricotta, black pepper and coffee crusted bacon

From: Eatingclub Vancouver

It was just a matter of putting all the elements together. I stacked
some pancakes, drenched it with honey ricotta sauce, and added some
pieces of bacon. As a final touch, I drizzled honey all over the whole thing.

Of
course, no quantities are required. Want more pancakes? Make a lot
more! Want more bacon? By golly, make a lot of bacon. More
honey-ricotta? Use a big tub of ricotta…more

Carne asada tacos

From: For the love of cooking

Pam said:Mouth watering good! This has to be my husbands all time favorite dish.
I found a recipe years ago on the Internet for these tacos, it was good
but still needed some work. It took a while and many attempts, but I
think I finally have the perfect carne asada recipe. My children and I
love this as much as my husband does. It’s great to serve for company
and the leftovers (if there are any) make really tasty burritos…more
