Runza

From: Healthy tasty chow

Ann says: The Nebraska classic, if you’ve been here (or surrounding states), then you should know what a Runza is, and then you’ve most likely experienced peer pressure to have one!  Unless you’re a vegetarian or have celiac disease, then I sure hope you’ve tried one.  Speaking of…I’m a little embarrassed that I was trying to talk a guy I know with celiac disease AND he’s also a vegetarian to try a Swiss Cheese Mushroom Runza.  Momentary lapse of memory I guess.  Just wasn’t thinking or being sensitive at the moment.  I literally forgot and felt pretty stupid about it!  Although…sometimes, foods are just so good or such a part of your history growing up that it’s amazing that others close to you haven’t experienced it…more

Beef sausages and balsamic tomatoes

From: Kayotic kitchen

Saw this recipe in a Dutch magazine and immediately rushed to the store to buy the ingredients. Not that it needs a lot of ingredients or that it’s a complicated recipe. Not at all, quite the opposite, in fact. It’s so brilliantly simple, so beautiful and so straight forward. All you need is good quality, fresh ingredients and you won’t believe your eyes, or your taste buds, for that matter. This is my kinda cooking! …more

Burgers with caramelised onions, mushrooms and blue cheese sauce

Burgers Smothered in a Caramelized Onion, Mushroom and Blue Cheese Sauce
from: Closet cooking

Burger season is finally here and I have been waiting for it! A while ago I made a steak tenderloin in a mushroom and blue cheese sauce and while I was eating it I thought that the sauce would go great on a burger. I have just been itching to try the burgers with caramelized onions, mushrooms and blue cheese sauce ever since. Normally when I make burgers I make them with a theme where I add lots of flavours and ingredients directly to the burgers to add flavour and help keep them moist when they cook. This time however I wanted a basic, unflavoured burger so that the flavours of the sauce would not get lost. In an effort to make sure that the burgers stayed nice and moist I went with a fattier ground beef at about 70/30. The burger recipe itself is quite basic…more

Beef Wellington

beef wellington recipe
From: Wrightfood

Some say that it was Duke Wellington’s favorite dish, and hence is called Beef Wellington. Others say it is of Irish decent, from a dish called steig Wellington of Ireland. Heck, the French even have a version somewhat similar called “fillet de boeuf en croute”. Personally, I don’t care to ever argue food history, especially when it comes to “what is an authentic blah blah blah”. Bollocks to all that, this is what it is – a fillet of beef, wrapped up with mustard and mushrooms, foie gras pate (if you like that kind of thing) and finally wrapped in puff pastry. Call it Shirley if you makes you happy…more

Sizzling Hot & Spicy Meatballs

Sizzling Hot & Spicy Meatballs at The Hungry Mouse
From: The hungry mouse

Jessie says:

Seriously? I could eat a big bowl of these, then go back for more. I’m not saying that I have a meatball problem. Yet.

Made with traditional Asian flavors, these meatballs get a satisfying, subtle heat from a generous amount of chili flakes, ground ginger, and fresh garlic. The sweetness of the sausage balances out the hotness nicely. The best part? Once you’ve made them, they fry up in a few minutes flat, and develop a lovely caramelized crust in the process…more

Un-Stuffed Pepper bake

from: The homesteading housewife

We love stuffed peppers!
But sometimes I just don’t feel like
messing with finding good peppers for stuffing, and all the time and work that goes into stuffing the suckers! With a family as big as mine, it take a long time! This way is so much better! You get the great stuffed pepper taste in a fraction of the time…more

Carne asada tacos

From: For the love of cooking

Pam said:Mouth watering good! This has to be my husbands all time favorite dish.
I found a recipe years ago on the Internet for these tacos, it was good
but still needed some work. It took a while and many attempts, but I
think I finally have the perfect carne asada recipe. My children and I
love this as much as my husband does. It’s great to serve for company
and the leftovers (if there are any) make really tasty burritos…more

Spicy Beef in Dark Soy Sauce

I was trying to surprise Carlos by grilling him a steak last week. I
took out a piece of meat from the freezer thinking it was his rib eyes
steak. I marinate it and grill it just in time for his dinner. He was
so looking forward to his juicy steak until he took a bite out of it
and told me ‘Sweetie, this steak is so hard and tough as a leather’…more
